Despite the challenges of 2020, Peak Franchise Capital completed multiple assignments during the year, a few of which are summarized below:
- Sell-side advisory services in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of SD Charlotte, LLC, et al, which involved two separate transactions of 70+ Sonic Drive-In units and 13 MOD Pizza restaurants.
- Restructuring advisory services as the acting Chief Restructuring Officer for a 150+ unit Pizza Hut franchisee that ultimately concluded with the sale of the restaurants in two separate transactions.
- Restructuring advisory services to a multi-company, 100+ unit Pizza Hut franchisee, working with the company, its lenders, the franchisor and the franchisor’s advisors through a successful effort of restructuring the balance sheet and the future cash flows of the business.
- Sell-side advisory services for American Huts Inc. in the sale of 57 Pizza Hut units in the Southeast to franchisee, ADT Pizza, bringing them to roughly 175 units.
“As everyone knows, it was an incredibly difficult year, particularly in the restaurant industry. We had several sell-side and buy-side projects fall out as the pandemic hit. Our team’s experience allows flexibility in our assignments like the restructuring/bankruptcy work along with the M&A transactions. We have been fortunate to work with great people on all sides, including partnering with Guideboat Advisors on a few engagements, through the many hurdles to get these projects across the goal line,” said Mike Elliott, Managing Partner.
